Edward R. Frank, the second ranking officer in the town police department, who has been on sick leave since January, has applied for workers' compensation for a medical condition aggravated by job-related stress.
Frank, 49, the deputy police chief and a 23-year veteran of the department, has been on sick leave since Jan. 5, according to Michael Foley, the town personnel director.
Under a town policy that gives all town employees the right to collect their full salary for up to 12 months when they are out sick, Frank has been getting his $47,741-a-year salary.
