Qld: Beattie backs federal labor over GST roll back

BRISBANE, Feb 21 AAP - Queensland Labor Premier Peter Beattie today supported federal
opposition plans to roll back the GST.

Federal Labor Leader Kim Beazley has promised to roll back the GST, while protecting
state revenue from the tax and also protecting the budget surplus.

Mr Beattie said he and New South Wales Labor Premier Bob Carr had supported the plan
providing state revenue from the GST was safe.
