Fed: Community awareness needed to safeguard PBS - Minister
Health Minister KAY PATTERSON says people should use prescriptions wisely to help safeguardthe future of the taxpayer-subsidised Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.
Senator PATTERSON says that with increasing pressure to include new-generation drugson the PBS, everyone has to take on more responsibility.
Her comments follow speculation the PBS could be targeted in next month's federal Budget.
Senator PATTERSON has refused to comment on Budget implications.
But she's told ABC television it's time for all Australians to understand they haveone of the best systems in the world and they need to work together to ensure its sustainability.
